I just wanted to take a moment to bring up this conversation with you. It’s not that salary is always the most important thing in a business, but the fact of the matter is that it’s often the most important thing to consider in a salary. I find this particularly true when it comes to contractors, who in a typical building project only get paid the salary of their last job, after the job they started.
It's also true when it comes to house painting. If you are the owner of a home with a large budget for paint, the fact is that you likely pay the contractor a higher amount than you would if you were painting the interior or exterior of your home. The reason is that when you paint your home, you're not only painting the exterior. You're also painting every single piece of wood, glass, and wall coverings that make up your home.
This is where things get a little tricky.
When you start to paint your home, you may think you're getting paid the same amount whether you paint the exterior or interior. But the truth is, you're likely paying a lot more money for the exterior paint than you are for the interior paint because the exterior of a home is far more important to a homeowner than the interior because it represents the “look” of the house.
